It’s more than just climate change. The world did not end in 2012 but practically everything has changed for me. I am a product of a predominantly rote-memory education. It has served me well. After all, it gave me a comfortable retirement package. With the help of my husband and our only daughter we are now settled comfortably in a condo.
However, I want a life. Nowadays, I thrive with the help of my Buddhist mental adapted from the books of Sylvia Boorstein. I do a lot of new perceptual training with the help of Peter Ralston’s Zen-Body-Being. After a mild stroke in May 2012 I take seriously my muscular challenges. I believe in the power of new perceptions of what he body can do with training. I draw inspiration for this from Oscar Pistorius even if he has fallen out of grace.
My vision for my future is influenced by www.iftf.org ‘superstruct’ as well as by Nicanor Perlas’ Mission Possible. But mostly the blueprint is patterned after Martha Beck’s Finding Your Way in a Wild New World.
Beck’s formula is primarily magic that springs from Wordlessness, Oneness, Imagination and Forming. Wordlessness is for me the key tool to thriving in this age. Considering that I come from a generation where verbal skills spelled success, I realize that I have much to change.
Our age is the age of information. If I stick to my usual verbal paradigm there will be no way my brain can process beyond 40 bits of information. But nowadays one needs to process about 11 million bits per second to be a success.
I am an introvert, actually anti-social most of the time. In a socially networked world I cannot afford to be an isolate.
Imagination, that kind that is non-verbal that springs from high sensitivity to others (human and material) helps in dealing with any situation and even makes one feel having fun while solving apparent problems.
Forming is giving physical form to what previously existed in thought. This is similar to the mechanical visualizations endorsed by Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret. Forming, unlike visualization does not invoke sheer will power. Forming uses nonattachment, not intense nor grasping focus that often comes from the fantasies and fears of the personality. Forming is a calm process of accepting the present and waiting in oneness with the universe. It is listening and observing what the Oneness loves to create then adding the imagined ideas.
My vision has a wider context – my cosmology. My cosmology believes in an inherent good nature for man albeit tainted by original sin but redeemed once and for all.
My world is governed by a supreme being who is neither tyrannical nor arbitrary. As such, I believe in universal laws for most of which are Bonewits’ Real Energy:
- The Law of Unity
- The Law of Personification
- The Law of Identification
- The Law of Association
- The Law of Contagion
Forming is possible in my world because everything is connected to everything else. I trust that my world is governed by a benign supreme being who is a person. The Law of Identification states that if one spends enough time meditation upon a spirit or concept and correlating different aspects of one’s self with different aspects of it, one can psychologically merge with it.
The Law of Association states that if two ideas, persons, places or things have something in common with one another, then can affect each other through that commonality.
The Law of Contagion states that objects in p=physical condition remain so even after separation. The last two laws bolster my faith in prayers and especially in prayers of petition to the dead.
